FAQ

Is there a chance the WordCamp will be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns?

In the event WordCamp Birmingham 2020 is unable to proceed as a live event, we will simply shift to an online platform. See our COVID-19 page for the most recent updates about the status of WordCamp Birmingham. If we needed to shift to a virtual event, T-shirts would be shipped to those who purchased tickets before the T-shirt deadline; meals would not be shipped. 🙂

What is #wpyall?

WordCamp Birmingham is a regional conference devoted to discussing and exploring WordPress, the world’s largest open-source personal publishing software.

What type of people come to WordCamp?

WordCamp is a conference for the people, by the people. We are a community of thinkers, creators, and doers devoted to learning, developing, and growing WordPress. If you are a coder, designer, content creator, or small business, then this is your event.

Why should I pay to go to a conference?

WordCamp is an opportunity to troubleshoot your WordPress issues, learn more about the platform, connect with others, and grow your business. And WordCamp is much cheaper than other conferences. For $50, you get two full days of lectures and events.

Do I need to be an advanced user to attend?

Nope! Users of all experience levels are welcome. In fact, we encourage novices to attend. WordCamp is a great place to get started with WordPress.

Will there be vendors present?

Yes! Representatives from several of our sponsors will be present, including Bluehost and Knownhost.

What if the topics covered don’t address my particular needs?

If you’re having trouble addressing your specific problems, come see us at the Happiness Bar!

What is the ‘Happiness Bar’?

A Happiness Bar is a safe space for bloggers, developers, and small businesses to brainstorm, discuss, and fix their WordPress issues. The bar is completely free – just grab a seat, pour yourself a coffee, and get to it. Our volunteers are excited to nerd out with you.

Can I bring a “plus one” (spouse, friend, etc.) and will he/she have to pay full price?

All attendees (guests included) must purchase their own tickets.

Are meals provided?

Lunch and coffee will be available for everyone on both days.

Will there be after-hours events?

Yes, it will be Saturday evening. Details to be shared soon.

How should I dress?

Business casual is most appropriate – dresses and ties are not necessary.

How do I get there?

This answer will be updated when the venue is confirmed.

If you do not have a car, we recommend either renting a car or hiring a Lyft or Uber.

Are there hotels close to the venue?

This answer will be updated when the venue is confirmed.

Note that WordCamp Birmingham is not affiliated with any local hotels and isn’t responsible for rates or service, so book rooms at your best discretion.

Are tickets still available?
